RITUALS {for pregnancy & postpartum}

“When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change."

-- Marie F. Mongan

The birth of a child has been, historically and culturally, an auspicious time for a family.  There are many beliefs and rituals that collectively celebrate pregnancy and birth as a powerful right of passage and honors a mother's experience of transition.

Rituals, spiritual or secular, are opportunities to infuse the transition with deeper personal intention and create space to celebrate the courageous journey of motherhood.

Mamma's (and/or partners) who would like to include ritual(s) into their birth journey will be invited to discuss their preferences in an additional planning session.

Some examples of rituals for pregnancy, birth and postpartum have included:

  • Self-Care Day {imagine a day where you can do all your favorite things and are lovingly cared for and celebrated}
  • Community Meal {nourish your newborn family}
  • Placenta Burial Ceremony {plan a special event to honor this important part of your pregnancy and birth}
  • Women’s Blessing Ceremony {gather with friends and/or family for a meaningful blessing of your path into motherhood}
  • Belly Casting {treasure your big belly with an artistic belly cast}
  • Belly Henna {enjoy your final weeks of pregnancy with beautiful henna designs on your belly}
